Baking powder is a dry chemical leavening agent, a mixture of a carbonate or bicarbonate and a weak acid and is used for increasing the volume and lightening the texture of baked goods
Baking powder is compound used generally in batters before baking and its a mixture of dry acid ( like cream of tartar, sodium sulphate), a dry base ( sodium bicarbonate) and a holding agent. This is used in preparation of cakes and muffins normally, with aim of an effect called ‘ leavening’
